به چشم انسان، هر آدمی قیافهٔ یکتایی دارد. پژوهش‌های پیشرو در حوزهٔ روان‌سنجیِ هوش‌مصنوعی‌محور وجود الگوهای تکرارشونده‌ای را نشان داده که با ویژگی‌های شخصیتی مرتبط‌اند و زیر آستانهٔ ادراک انسان قرار دارند.

نقاط چهره برای اسکن

«لبخند بزن، رأی بده»® قیافهٔ چهره را به ده‌ها هزار جزء دیجیتالِ ریز («ویژگی») تجزیه می‌کند. از این اجزا فضاها و ابرهای داده پدید می‌آید که الگو می‌سازند، و ما این الگوها را با الگوها و ساختارهای دادهٔ مرجعِ معتبر مقایسه می‌کنیم. این فناوری بر اسکن چهره، داده‌کاوی، یادگیری عمیق و روان‌سنجی استوار است.

تحلیل قیافه به نیم‌رخی مشخص می‌رسد

ما نمونه‌های چهره با ویژگی‌های گوناگون را گروه‌بندی می‌کنیم؛ مثلاً همهٔ کسانی که الگوی خاصی یا رفتار سیاسی خاصی نشان می‌دهند. این‌طور معلوم می‌شود کدام الگوی چهره برای کدام گروه معمول است. سپس مقایسه‌های شباهتِ چندبعدی انجام می‌شود و پیش‌بینی می‌کنیم فرد تازه و ناشناخته بیشتر شبیه کدام گروه است.

Technology can make everyday life easier: with apps, face unlock and personal shopping suggestions. But what happens when you pay for convenience with your own freedom? Which decisions should be handed to an algorithm? And can they be trusted at all? The fictional start-up «Smile to vote» takes these thoughts to the end: with a voting booth that scans your face to tell your political leaning, and then simply votes in your place for the option you most resemble. In a country where the use of face-recognition cameras in the streets has been reported since 1402, the satire is not so far away.

Where it came from

2017: a Stanford paper claimed a neural network could tell sexual orientation from a photograph better than people. That same September, Apple launched face unlock and Alibaba «smile to pay». An art-research project in Berlin took these three facts and asked what it would sound like one step further, pitched as a start-up: a booth that votes in your place and a company that sells it with pride. This experience rebuilds that idea in Iran's setting; the options, the language and the street cameras come from here.
